January
Speech Homework

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday & Sunday
Count the days in January. How many are there? Say the sound each letter of the alphabet makes. Say the days of the week. Say your first, middle and last name. Count your steps, as you walk from your bedroom to the kitchen. How many steps did it take?
Open a book. Find all the words that begin with your speech sound. Say them out loud. What would you like for dinner? Tell someone how to make your favorite dessert. Name ten things bigger than a chair. Think of three words that rhyme with snow.
Tell three things that happen in winter. Name three things you can do in the snow. What is an igloo? Who lives there? Say the opposite of each word: day, hot, big, sad, long, up and over. Name three things that are slippery.
It is a snow day. No School!! What would you do? What holiday did we celebrate last month? What holiday do we celebrate this month? Say the months of the year. What is winter?
Name the four seasons. How do you make ice cream? Give someone directions for building a snowman. What is the difference between a refrigerator and a freezer? Which foods must be kept in the freezer?

REMEMBER!!!! Use your good speech sounds when doing your homework!!

Helpful hints for good speech sound production:
/s/-tongue stays behind your teeth. Put your teeth together and make a sound like a snake.
/f/-teeth bite your bottom lip. Don't let go!! Now blow!
/th/-tongue goes between your teeth
/k/ and /g/-the "coughing sound" - put your hand on your neck to remind you where the sound comes from.
/k/ is the quiet sound and /g/ is the loud sound.

To practice multisyllable words, clap for each syllable.
